STRESS, and acne

STRESS, and acne.

Can prolonged stress cause acne?? Let's first understand how stress works, I guess not many people thought about it. So what causes us stress?? Consider the following situation, which in most of us will make our hearts beat faster. Let's imagine the following scene, in which we suddenly hear a sharp sound when crossing the street, the sudden squeal of the tires of the car braking right in front of us, our hearts stop in our throats in one second, starts beating with double strength. This is the stimulus, which is the cause of stress. This stimulus through nerve impulses reaches the pituitary gland - the brain. The pituitary responds by secreting hormones into the blood, which in turn stimulate the adrenal glands to produce increased amounts of hormones, i.e. adrenaline and noradrenaline. These hormones are not without meaning called stress hormones or fight-or-flight hormones.

Increased secretion of adrenaline and norepinephrine causes:

  • increase in blood pressure,
  • acceleration of heart rate,
  • the amount of cholesterol in the blood increases, free fatty acids and glucose,

STIMULUS (caused by a stressful situation) –> reaches the brain ( pituitary gland) –> secretion of hormones into the blood = stimulation of the adrenal glands -> production of adrenaline and norepinephrine (stress hormones) = state of increased readiness of the body.

If the stressful situation lasts a very long time, (which is associated with the continuous production of stress hormones) and there is no possibility to discharge the resulting tension, which results in weakening and exhaustion of the body, a decrease in immunity and its complete dysregulation.

Symptoms of long-term stress include::
– somnolence,
– no appetite, or excessive gluttony,
– apathy,
– lack of concentration,
– weariness,
– headaches,
– memory problems,
– weakened reflexes,

A weakened body is much more vulnerable to diseases and long-term infections. It doesn't matter, that in stressful moments we often touch our face unconsciously, hair, thus transmitting pathogenic bacteria, which result in acne.
